By the end of the week you should have a prototype for your project done for feedback.


Projects are due at the end of next week.


Wednesday Progress Meeting - Delete the information on your slide by the start of class Wednesday and add your progress.

Non-FTC Robot:

Part 1

  • Research on history of one system answering:

    • What is the history behind the company developing the robot?

    • What is the history behind the robot itself?

    • Is the robot teach-pendant(remote controlled) or autonomous?

    • What role does the robot fill that humans can’t? Why can’t humans fill that role?

    • What features or subsystems make this robot unique?

    • Presentations should include imagery as well as video where appropriate.

Part 2

  • Watch all the videos and answer all the questions


Part 3

  • Your task is to propose and create a remote controlled robot device or game

using an infrared remote control.

  • Basic Guided project

    • Do task 1, 2, and 3

FTC Game Mechanism:


Part 1

  • Explanation of the design process

  • Game research and reading of game manual

    • Based on this a simple sketch of an idea for a mechanism

  • Research of a team and answer the following

    • What type of drivetrain did they use?

    • What sort of submechanisms made that robot successful?

    • Did the team make anything exceptional happen?


Part 2

  • Watch all the videos and answer all the questions


Part 3

  • Create a sub mechanism for game play

    • CAD Design

    • Built (prototype)

    • Program/Control

For our Introductory activity we will be doing a simple activity about best and worst designed things.

  • Go to the slideshow and create a slide.
  • Put your name on the slide.
  • Put one well designed and one not-so-well designed thing on that slide.
